A Mountain Biker’s Engagement Session
Sabrina + Jack | A Mountain Bike Engagement Session in Marquette, Michigan
When Sabrina and Jack told me they wanted to include mountain biking in their engagement session, I knew it was going to be a good one. Riding is a huge part of their lives together, so instead of planning around a scenic overlook or a popular photo spot, we planned around something they genuinely love doing.
Marquette & Ishpeming are known for its incredible trail system, and it's one of the reasons so many people choose to call this place home. Miles of winding singletrack weave through pine forests, over rocky ridges, and past quiet lakes. Whether you're an experienced rider or just getting started, there's always another trail to explore.
The best part?
Sabrina and Jack handed me one of their e-bikes and sent me on my way with them.
Instead of watching from behind my camera, I got to experience the trails alongside them. We rode over rock slabs, wound through the trees, and laughed our way down the trail until we reached a quiet little lake tucked away in the forest.
It didn't feel like a photoshoot.
It felt like spending an evening with two people doing exactly what they love.
That's one of my favorite things about sessions like this. When couples choose an activity that's already part of their everyday life, the photographs come naturally. There isn't any pressure to pose or perform. They simply fall into the rhythm they've built together over countless rides, waiting for each other at trail crossings, sharing a laugh after a tricky section, or stopping because the light coming through the trees is too beautiful to pass up.
I think that's what engagement sessions should be.
Not just beautiful photos, but an honest reflection of this season of your life. Whether that's mountain biking through the woods, walking your favorite trail with your dog, or spending an evening by the lake, those are the moments worth remembering.
Years from now, I hope Sabrina and Jack don't just remember these photographs. I hope they remember the ride, the quiet lake hidden in the trees, Sage barking her way into our hearts and an evening that felt completely like them.
